Hip

The Hip

The hip joint is a ball and socket joint that can withstand repeated motion and a fair amount of wear and tear. Despite its durability, hip pain and reduced hip function is a common complaint due to age, use, and injury.

Common conditions include hip arthritis, bursitis, fractures, hip labrum damage or tear. Correct diagnosis of the cause of your hip pain is essential for effective treatment and recovery.

Hip Arthritis

Hip Arthritis is a common condition that occurs when the cartilage which overlies the femur bone or lines the acetabulum bone wears out and exposes ‘bone on bone’ articulation.

Hip Impingement

A Hip Impingement, or Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), occurs when extra bone ‘spurs’ grow on one or both of the bones in the hip joint, which restricts movement and can cause damage such as tears or Arthritis (degradation of the cartilage).
