Orthopaedic Surgeon – Knee Surgeon

Julian Feller is a Melbourne orthopaedic surgeon who is internationally recognised for his work in knee surgery, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. However, as a knee surgeon his expertise covers the whole range of knee conditions, including the treatment of patellar instability, as well as osteotomy surgery. Julian has worked with elite athletes over many years in a wide range of sports and has an affiliation with many AFL and AFLW clubs, as well as with national and state soccer, basketball, netball and rugby league teams.
Julian also has a long involvement in clinical research and has been an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at La Trobe University since 2011. He has published extensively and written many book chapters. His h-index is 80 (as of June 2026) and his work has been cited more 13500 times since 2021 alone. He is a regular speaker at international meetings and has served on the editorial board or been a reviewer for all the major sports orthopaedics journals. Julian has been an Associate Editor of the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine since 2020.
Julian is active in a number of orthopaedic organisations. He is a past President of the international Anterior Cruciate Ligament Study Group and of the Australian Knee Society, and a past Chair of the Knee and Traveling Fellowship Committees, as well as past Program Chair of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS). He was awarded Honorary Membership of ISAKOS in 2024 for his distinguished contributions since its inception in 1997 and is currently a member of the ISAKOS Education Committee.
